The Dutch financial sector is calling on political parties to ensure strong Dutch representation on the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) committee even after the European elections.
This commission plays a crucial role for the Dutch financial sector, consumers, participants and government. The ECON Committee oversees EU economic and monetary policy, the functioning of the eurozone, banking union, capital markets union and fiscal discipline. In addition, several other important topics are covered, including: the digital euro, sustainable finance, corporate finance and financial education. It is therefore essential that there is strong Dutch representation on this committee, given the major challenges it faces in the coming period. We call on newly elected MEPs to take on this role.
