February 1, 2024 was Leaders in Finance's Sustainable Finance Event. The event featured several speakers who shared their views on a sustainable future for the financial sector. Jeroen van Wijngaarden kicked off the day with an opening speech.
The event
Leaders in Finance is a recurring event that brings financial professionals together to discuss the challenges of the future in the financial sector. Last Thursday, the focus was on a sustainable financial sector. The event addressed the question, What is the pain and what is there to gain? Throughout the day, leading speakers shared their insights.
DUFAS
Jeroen kicked off the day with an opening speech, emphasizing DUFAS' undiminished commitment to the Climate Agreement. "Together with members and stakeholders, we want to actively contribute to the transition of our economy, both on a national and European level." On behalf of DUFAS, he advocated giving shareholders voting rights on CSRD sustainability report during the general meeting.
Jeroen also stressed the importance of reflection and awareness about where we can really make a difference. In 1978, for example, it was still normal for a teacher to smoke in a classroom. So in 30 years, how will we look back on the current period we live in? By being aware of this, perhaps we can make a difference today.
