Welcome to the DUFAS team! We are pleased to have David join our team for the next six months as a communications & public affairs intern. David is studying Business Administration and is spending six months on the DUFAS team. To get to know him better, we asked him a few questions.
What is your (work) background?
I am currently studying Business Administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam, as an exit option from the broad economic education (BER) program. During my studies, I was introduced to several disciplines, including HRM, Finance, Commercial Economics and Business Administration. In addition to my studies, I have been working at Bitvavo for a year and a half in the German, English and Dutch customer support departments. In this role, I answer a variety of questions from clients on topics including BaFin regulation, the transition to Bitvavo powered by Hyphe, MiCAR licensing, the travel rule and various other topics related to crypto and the Bitvavo platform.
Where does your strength lie? And in what ways do you expect to help the DUFAS team with that?
My strength lies in presenting ideas convincingly, carefully formulating complex issues and easily establishing contact with various parties. My broad background and interest in various fields allow me to quickly shift gears and connect between different perspectives.
I hope to use these qualities at DUFAS to contribute to a strong positioning of both the association and the industry. Specifically, I want to support in keeping the communication channels in order, while using my curiosity and eagerness to learn to gain new insights. Within my internship assignment, researching how Dutch people view wealth management, I expect to put my analytical and communication skills to good use. In this way, I hope to contribute to a powerful and recognizable story for the asset management industry and to further strengthen DUFAS' role as the industry organization.
How do you see the future of finance?
The financial sector faces major challenges and developments, ranging from digitalization and new regulations to social issues such as sustainability and energy transition. I do not yet have enough experience to make a concrete judgment on this, but I do see that the industry will continue to play an important role in finding solutions to these issues.
For me, therefore, this internship is a valuable opportunity to gain more insight into the dynamics of the industry and how policy, regulation and communication come together in the process. I expect that through this experience I will be better able to develop my own vision for the future of the financial sector.
