As of February 1, 2024, Marlon Jansen joins our team as manager public affairs & communications. DUFAS is pleased to welcome Marlon as a new permanent team member. His knowledge and experience make him a valuable addition to the team. To get to know him better, we asked Marlon a few questions.
What is your (work) background?
"My study path began at TU Delft, where I studied Technical Public Administration, since technology had always been my interest. Although this initially seemed logical, I soon discovered that my passion actually lay more in the world of politics. Therefore, after obtaining my bachelor's degree, I decided to shift my major to a master's in International Relations. During this master's period, my fascination for politics continued to grow, and this led me to join the VVD faction in the Lower House as a staff member. Here I worked for various members of parliament, on various portfolios such as Education, Culture and Science (OCW), Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W), and Justice and Security (J&V)."
Where does your strength lie? And in what ways do you expect to help the DUFAS team with that?
"Having stood with both feet in The Hague, I have seen how politics works. My experience with various portfolios has taken me into the interdisciplinary aspects of policy making. I hope to put this experience to use at DUFAS. In addition, thanks to my broad orientation from Alpha to Beta, I hope to serve as a versatile team player who can be deployed on various fronts."
How do you see the future of finance?
"In the future, I see a financial sector making significant social impact. We are currently facing important societal challenges, such as the housing shortage and increasing pressure on our climate. In this context, I see the financial sector as a key player in facilitating sustainable investments and promoting corporate social responsibility. I am convinced that the sector can transform to a more inclusive and sustainable model, where financial institutions focus on actively contributing to addressing social issues."
