DUFAS joins forces with Integral Approach to Online Fraud

News

DUFAS has become a partner in the Integrated Approach to Online Fraud. Through this partnership, we aim to work with other relevant parties, including the police, the Dutch Banking Association (NVB), the Ministry of Justice and Security, the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) and the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), to raise awareness and take concrete steps to better combat and prevent online fraud, particularly investment fraud.

Practice shows that investment fraud often takes sophisticated forms. For example, our members’ websites are cloned, misleading WhatsApp and Telegram groups appear, and forged documents and advertisements circulate that give the impression that they originate from reputable institutions.

Fraudsters exploit investors’ trust in regulated market parties. Combating this identity fraud and scams is therefore an important focus area. Within DUFAS, we are therefore setting up a platform for our members to exchange experiences and working methods for identifying, combating and preventing online investment fraud.

It is very good that the AFM is also actively bringing this topic to the attention of the public: https://www.afm.nl/nl-nl/sector/actueel/2025/okt/pb-afm-waarschuwt

Together with stakeholders, including regulators and fellow member federations, we are committed to giving this topic the attention it deserves and to working together on effective solutions to combat investment fraud.
