Collaboration and knowledge sharing in the financial sector are essential for advancing sustainable finance. We are proud to have contributed to the publication of a new handbook on integrating impact into investment portfolios, developed by the Working Group on Integrating Impact under the Sustainable Finance Platform. The handbook brings together practical experience and academic insights in one shared educational document.

The handbook is designed to support institutional investors in embedding impact considerations systematically into their investment processes. It provides a structured overview of current approaches to defining, measuring, and governing impact, while allowing institutions to tailor strategies to their own investment approaches and levels of maturity.

A key feature of the handbook is its focus on learning from practice. It includes examples and best practices collected from across the sector, illustrating how institutional investors approach impact objectives, impact measurement, and decision-making trade-offs. These cases serve as reference points for institutions further developing their own impact strategies.

We participated in the Working Group alongside PGGM Investments, a.s.r. asset management, Achmea Investment Management, APG Asset Management, NN Group, Stichting Pensioenfonds PME, and Triodos Bank. Additional input and feedback were gathered from a broader group of Dutch financial institutions, and the Sustainable Finance Lab (SFL) contributed research-based insights and content.

The handbook was supported and sponsored by DUFAS and the Pensioenfederatie. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment across the sector to strengthen knowledge, collaboration, and best practice in impact integration.

With this publication, we contribute to a common foundation for dialogue and learning on impact integration. The handbook is intended as a living document, evolving with market practices, research, and policy developments, and supporting continued collaboration across the financial sector.

The handbook can be found on the website of the Sustainable Finance Platform.
